Moroccan Police Bust Counterfeiting Ring, Seize Fake Banknotes in Berkane

Information from the services of the General Directorate of National Territory Surveillance (DGST) allowed the Judicial Police Brigade of Berkane to arrest three individuals aged 25 to 31 for their alleged involvement in a case of counterfeiting banknotes and their circulation.
The counterfeiting of banknotes and their circulation has come to an end for three individuals. The arrest of the first suspect took place in the Errachad district, in the city of Berkane. He was in possession of 122 counterfeit bank notes of 200 dirhams, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Subsequently, the investigations carried out led to the arrest of one of his accomplices, also in possession of 49 other counterfeit bank notes of the same value.
As for the third suspect, the manager of a car rental agency, he will be arrested for his alleged involvement in providing the equipment and printers used in this illegal banknote manufacturing activity.
The three suspects were placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to know the details of this case, the same source said.
