Egyptian National Arrested in Tangier for Counterfeit Dirham Operation

Elements of the Judicial Police Prefectural Service of Tangier proceeded, on Thursday, October 31, to the arrest of an Egyptian. He would be involved in a case of counterfeiting the national currency and its circulation on the market.

The suspect, aged 32, was arrested in possession of counterfeit 200 dirham banknotes with a total value estimated at 14,600 dirhams, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in a press release.

According to the same source, the search operations of his home allowed the seizure of additional counterfeit banknotes of nearly 20,000 DHS, two printers, equipment for cutting banknotes, computer equipment and several tools used in the counterfeiting of banknotes, including colored ink and stickers.

Pending the elucidation of this case and the determination of all the criminal acts attributed to him, the defendant was placed in custody.
