Moroccan Police Bust Counterfeit Currency Ring in Casablanca Districts

Arrested in the act in Casablanca, two individuals are being prosecuted in custody for counterfeiting and trafficking in banknotes. An investigation has been opened.
The criminal gang specialized in the counterfeiting and trafficking of banknotes operates in the districts of Moulay Rachid and Sidi Othmane, according to police sources, adding that the two suspects arrested are 22 and 34 years old respectively.
According to the daily Assabah which reports the facts, the police caught one of the two accused in the act as he was trying to exchange a fake 200 dirham banknote with a merchant. The arrest of this person, who has a criminal record, put the judicial police of Casablanca on the trail of his supplier, who was running an internet cafe in the area.
The two individuals were arrested after the searches. In addition to the fake 200 dirham banknotes with the same serial number, seized, the investigators also got their hands on computer equipment and other documents and equipment used in the process of printing counterfeit banknotes. The two accused were placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation.
