Moroccan Police Bust Student-Run Counterfeit Money Ring in Tiznit

The judicial police elements of Tiznit succeeded in dismantling a gang of counterfeiters of banknotes, composed of three students.
The judicial police elements of Tiznit have put out of harm’s way three forgers (students) who were engaged in the trafficking of counterfeit 200 DH banknotes. The preliminary investigation reveals that the three minors have transformed one of their rooms into a counterfeit banknote manufacturing workshop using technological and traditional equipment, reports Assabah.
This network was dismantled following the arrest of one of its members. The latter tried to pay with a fake 200 DH banknote, but the merchant discovered that the banknote was falsified. He called the police who arrived on the scene to arrest the forger. At the police station, he denounced his two accomplices who were then located and arrested. During a search of the parents’ house of the gang leader, the investigators seized several equipment including a printer and a special glue solution.
Under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, an investigation was opened to determine the number of victims, the amount of counterfeit banknotes circulated and any possible accomplices of the student gang. Pending their referral to the prosecutor’s office near the court of first instance of Tiznit, the accused were subjected to judicial control.
