Marrakech Couple Arrested for Counterfeiting and Circulating Fake Currency

Arrested in the act, a couple residing in Marrakech is being prosecuted under arrest for counterfeiting banknotes and their circulation through commercial transactions. The investigation opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office is continuing pending the arrest of all the accused involved in this case.
The couple of counterfeiters were arrested while exchanging 200 DH banknotes. The woman was arrested after paying with a 200 dirham banknote in a pharmacy in the same area, while her husband was arrested in a money transfer agency with nine 200 DH banknotes. The searches carried out at the couple’s home resulted in the seizure of 2,500 DH. The couple, after printing the counterfeit banknotes, was responsible for putting them into circulation and saving the currency from the operations carried out.
In addition to the banknotes seized at their home, the investigators also got their hands on computer equipment and other instruments used in the process of printing counterfeit banknotes. Arrested, the two accused were placed in custody for the needs of the investigation.
