The security operations carried out by the national security services in Tangier led to the arrest of 4,597 people, during the period from January 20 to the end of February last. These people were apprehended for their alleged involvement in criminal acts.

Among these arrested persons, 2,921 individuals were arrested in flagrante delicto, while 2,036 were the subject of national search warrants, including 134 people wanted for their involvement in violent crimes, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).

These operations made it possible to seize a set of equipment and means used during these criminal acts. These include 218 sharp and blunt objects, one firearm, 2 safes, 19 cartridges and 6 tear gas bottles, a set of quantities of drugs and seizures from criminal operations, such as 2.106 tons of Chira, 528 grams of cocaine, 179 grams of heroin, 7,321 psychotropic tablets, 126 mobile phones, as well as 36 vehicles and 2 drones.

In a tweet, the DGSN stressed that these operations were reinforced by support measures, both in terms of road safety and regulatory procedures. It should also be noted that the DGSN drew up reports against 10,594 road users, and strengthened control measures at security checkpoints, through the control of 7,561 vehicles and the arrest of 48 people who were the subject of search warrants for various cases.

These "useful and qualitative" security interventions involved the participation of all the brigades of the judicial police, public security and general intelligence of the Tangier police prefecture, with the support of the elements of the National Judicial Police Brigade and the Rapid Intervention Group of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
