Five Arrested in Tangier for Burglary and Drug Trafficking Following Rifle Theft

The judicial police services of Tangier and Chefchaouen arrested last weekend five individuals for their alleged involvement in cases of burglary, possession and international drug trafficking.
It all started with the observation made by the judicial police services of Tangier, on April 9, concerning a burglary committed in an apartment and the disappearance of a hunting rifle, several cartridges and personal effects, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The operation carried out by the judicial police services of Tangier and Chefchaouen, in collaboration with the elements of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), made it possible to identify two alleged perpetrators, with multiple criminal records, and the arrest of a third individual, who would have bought and sold part of the stolen items, including the hunting rifle.
In addition, two other people were arrested on Sunday in a douar under the rural commune of Bab Berred, near Chefchaouen. The searches made it possible to find the stolen hunting rifle and cartridges at one of the suspects’ homes and to seize a utility vehicle loaded with 2 tons and 563 kilograms of cannabis resin and four light vehicles, equipped with false registration plates.
For the needs of the investigation, the five suspects were placed in custody.
