Moroccan Honorary Consul Under Investigation for Illegal Firearms Possession

A judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office against a Moroccan, honorary consul of a foreign country, for the possession of a batch of firearms (three pistols and parts of a hunting rifle).
In a statement, the DGSN indicated that the services of the Casablanca police prefecture had been alerted about the consul’s possession of a batch of firearms.
Following this alert, a search operation was carried out at his home. It made it possible to seize three pistols and a batch of hunting rifles as well as several hunting cartridges.
According to the DGSN, the investigation revealed that the seized firearms belonged to the father of the accused who had previously served in the army. The consul, for his part, reassured the police officers that he had the necessary authorizations to carry these weapons.
Furthermore, the investigation continues pending the results of the ballistic expertise to which these firearms are subjected in order to determine their origins and the reasons why they are in the possession of the accused.
