Agadir Police Seize 650kg Cannabis in Shootout with Drug Traffickers

The judicial police of Agadir proceeded on Saturday morning to the seizure of 650 kg of cannabis resin. This is the result of an operation carried out jointly by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the judicial police and the Regional Intervention Brigade (BRI).
It all started with a utility vehicle loaded with drugs intercepted by the elements of the judicial police, supported by the Regional Intervention Brigade (BRI) of Agadir. The driver, in the face of the injunctions of the security forces, refused to comply and even crossed the security barrier, endangering the lives of the police officers, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The other passengers of the vehicle did not hesitate to open fire, using a shotgun, in the direction of a police car, injuring two police officers after swerving to avoid the shots. It was then that the BRI elements were forced to fire in order to stop the vehicle in its momentum.
In addition to the 650 kg of drugs, the police also seized a shotgun and 14 cartridges, cocaine capsules, a knife and fake license plates.
The preliminary investigations made it possible to identify and apprehend two individuals involved in this case. Repeat offenders, they were wanted at the national level for their alleged involvement in cases related to drug and psychotropic trafficking. A judicial investigation has been opened to identify all the people involved in this drug trafficking case, concludes the DGSN.
