Moroccan Police Seize Nearly 3 Tons of Cannabis in Desert Raid Near Tan-Tan

A significant quantity of chira, or 02 tons and 988 kilograms, was seized by the judicial police elements of the city of Tan-Tan. This important seizure was made thanks to information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
According to a statement from the DGSN, the investigations led the police elements to identify the rear base for storing the drugs and psychotropic substances in question. It is, details the same source, a house located in a desert area about 12 kilometers southwest of Tan-Tan.
A 43-year-old man, the owner of the premises, was arrested. In addition, the police seized a significant quantity of prohibited products, including 101 packets of chira (cannabis resin) with a total weight of 02 tons and 988 kilograms. To this are added four inflatable boats, five engines, 12 gasoline cans containing 720 liters, a 4x4 vehicle and a loaded hunting rifle with 16 cartridges. According to the police, this marine equipment would have been used in international drug and psychotropic trafficking operations.
In order to apprehend all the people involved in this case, the defendants were taken into custody, at the disposal of the judicial investigation. Which is being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Needless to say, the judicial police services, in close collaboration with the DGST services, regularly carry out security operations to thwart this type of transnational criminal trafficking, the same source points out.
