Moroccan Opposition Calls for Government Action as Fuel Prices Soar

Faced with the increase in fuel prices observed in recent weeks, the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) is urging the government to take measures to mitigate the effects on Moroccan motorists.
The Akhannouch government "must intervene to control fuel prices," the members of the party’s office said in a statement, following a meeting held on Tuesday.
On this occasion, the socialists denounced the "constant rise in the cost of living and the soaring fuel prices," evoking "serious repercussions on the purchasing power of citizens, as well as on the conditions of national companies."
To curb the crisis, the party proposed to the government to "use its powers and capacities in order to intervene effectively to control fuel prices, by adapting the tax tool, by reducing profit margins, or by using any other possible means".
