Morocco Considers Direct Aid for Transport Sector Amid Soaring Fuel Prices

The government has started a session of dialogue and negotiations with representatives of the transport sector. The aim is to see to what extent to grant them aid to support them in the face of the effects of the rise in fuel prices.
According to the Delegate Minister in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaâ, the government has been considering such measures for weeks to relieve professionals in the transport sector who are facing the high cost of fuel. All means of transport have been directly affected by inflation and the "unprecedented" and "unpredictable" rise in fuel prices, Lekjaâ said, a guest on the Decryptage program on MFM Radio.
In his explanations, the minister stressed that with this measure, it will be a question of "maintaining the price of public transport in order to avoid the rise in the price of transporting goods which will impact the prices of vegetables and fruits in the markets".
Fouzi Lekjaâ also announced on the program that the rise in the price of fuel does not only concern Morocco, but remains a global phenomenon.
