Moroccan Nationals Caught Smuggling 23kg of Gold at Tanger Med Port

Two men were arrested on Sunday evening at the port of Tanger Med as they were trying to smuggle 23 kg of gold into Morocco.
Aged 52 and 73, the suspects, both of Moroccan nationality, were traveling in a car registered in Germany. The discovery was made during a joint control carried out by the National Security and customs services.
The gold, in the form of ingots, was hidden in specially designed hiding places in the vehicle.
The two men were taken into custody and an investigation was opened under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office. The aim is to determine the extent of this trafficking and to identify any possible accomplices.
