Ferry Overcrowding Leads to Docking Delay at Tanger Med Port

An incident on board a ferry connecting Algeciras to Tanger Med disrupted the journey of many passengers, including Moroccans residing abroad (MREs), a few days ago.
Due to the closure of the port of Tarifa due to unfavorable weather conditions, the ferry of the AML company welcomed a large number of travelers, creating a situation of overcrowding.
The ship, which left Algeciras at 3 p.m., encountered difficulties upon arrival in Tanger Med. The captain, of Greek nationality, failed to maneuver the ferry to dock it. This situation led to an hour of immobilization offshore, generating some concern among the passengers. The lack of information from the crew contributed to fueling this feeling of uncertainty, reports Rue20.
Moroccan captains were finally called upon to take over and ensure the docking of the ferry in Tanger Med. The on-board staff would have initially cited a lack of available berths to justify the delay, an explanation contradicted by the port authorities.
