Moroccan Mother Charged with Murder of 3-Year-Old Son in Safi Tragedy

In Safi, a beggar strangled one of her seven children, aged 3 years old. She then tried to set fire to her home but was stopped in her tracks.
The alleged murderess is a 45-year-old woman whose social and psychological conditions were difficult. She was begging to feed her seven children. The tragedy took place last Monday in a douar located five kilometers from Safi.
While she had returned to prepare a family meal, she strangled her 3-year-old child with a rope until he died, reports Assabah. She then tried to set fire to her home, but her other children and some neighbors managed to restrain her. The mother was in tears and hysterical.
Upon arrival at the crime scene, the elements of the royal gendarmerie transported the victim’s body to the provincial hospital morgue. Pending further investigation and her appearance before the Court of Appeal of Safi, the alleged murderess was taken into custody.
