Moroccan ’Beggar’ Arrested: Luxury SUV Owner Exposed in Year-Long Scam

It was in Ait Aourir, about ten kilometers from Agadir that the beggar with the rich heritage was arrested last Friday. Driving a brand new 4x4, the scammer had been under surveillance for more than a year.
For more than a year, a so-called homeless person, about forty years old, has been pounding the pavement of the small town of Ait Aourir in worn clothes. Originally from Agadir, where she owns a house, the self-proclaimed beggar operated in the city center of the seaside resort, away from prying eyes.
In order not to be unmasked, she always made sure to park her luxury car in an isolated place. But, it was without counting on the vigilance of the gendarmes. Under surveillance for some time, the scammer turned out to be richer than the majority of Moroccans.
The preliminary investigation revealed that in addition to a brand new luxury 4x4 car, the beggar owned private property in the city of Agadir. She was taken into custody, pending her appearance before the court of first instance.
