Luxury SUV-Driving Beggar Arrested Near Agadir in Dual-Life Scheme

Not far from the ordinary image of beggars, this woman who fell into the nets of the elements of the royal gendarmerie, drives a 4x4, and has made begging a lucrative profession. Sometimes a beggar, sometimes a patron, she managed to juggle the two without worry, until last Friday when her luck ran out in the Taghazoute area, near Agadir, leading to her arrest by the royal gendarmerie.

According to the daily Assabah, this ambivalent woman was caught in the act of begging, after carefully parking her 4x4 in a secluded alley and exchanging her luxurious clothes for a djellaba and an almost full veil. A double life perfectly carried out until then. To beg, she targeted merchants, passers-by and knocked on the doors of certain homes in the Taghazoute area. The harvest was abundant each time and allowed her to live in luxury and come to the aid of those in need.

But in the digital age, nothing escapes the radars of internet users. The investigation revealed that this beggar driving a 4x4 was none other than the one whose images had been broadcast by an electronic site showing her doing charity work in Aït Melloul, Agadir and Casablanca. Under the guise of a wealthy businesswoman owning two companies, one in Agadir and the other in Italy, in addition to real estate in Rabat, Casablanca and Agadir, reports Assabah.

In one of the videos, the "luxury beggar" was in the vicinity of the court of first instance in Meknes, on the occasion of the trial of a YouTuber. She had then declared that she had transferred 18,000 euros from France to this YouTuber to distribute to the poor, and that she intended to hire a lawyer to defend the defendant and pay bail so that he could be released on bail.

She inspired the admiration of her entourage and those who knew her as a generous soul, able to help the most destitute. On Monday, this "modern-day Robin Hood" woman was brought before the Criminal Chamber near the Court of First Instance in Agadir. She is being prosecuted for begging and fraud, in addition to charges related to her car which she was driving without insurance or technical inspection.
