Moroccan ’Luxury Beggar’ Sentenced to 6 Months for Fraud While Driving 4x4

The court of first instance in Agadir this week sentenced the luxury beggar who was driving a 4x4 vehicle to 6 months in prison.
The "luxury beggar", originally from the city of Salé and mother of three children, was prosecuted while in custody. According to her relatives, she had emigrated to Italy to join her husband, who later died in a traffic accident. To support her family, she started a business before being caught by the health crisis.
Ruined, she became a "beggar" against her will. She wore a full veil to hide her identity and made her family believe that she had found a job. Her secret was revealed in a video posted on social media where she could be seen changing her clothes and driving a luxury car.
Arrested on March 5 by the Caid of the Aït Ourir district, she was transferred to the Taghazout gendarmerie. At the time of her arrest, she had a plastic bag containing medication, two phones and income from begging.
