Wealthy Dual-Citizen Beggar Sentenced to Prison in Agadir, Morocco

In Agadir, a beggar with real estate assets, two villas and a well-stocked bank account, was sentenced to six months in prison.
The campaign led by the elements of the third police district against professional beggars has borne fruit. They arrested a binational (she holds the nationality of a European country) beggar near the Mosque of Lebanon "while begging for the charity and compassion of the faithful and passers-by," reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar. After being placed in custody and brought before the public prosecutor, she was prosecuted on provisional release.
But this status will quickly change after investigators discovered that she owns several real estate properties in various neighborhoods of Agadir, a villa where she resides, another one for rental, as well as a well-stocked bank account. The king’s prosecutor then ordered her to be placed in pre-trial detention. Tried before the court of first instance of Agadir, she was sentenced to six months in prison.
