Moroccan Model’s Death in Custody Sparks Investigation and Public Outcry

The circumstances of the death on Sunday of Kamilia El Marrakchi, better known as Kamilia Larbi, continue to stir up the web. For health reasons, the Moroccan model had been transferred from the Bourkaiz prison in Fès, where she was being held, to the city’s hospital center.
What really happened to Kamilia Larbi? The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) indicated on Monday, in a press release, that from the time of her incarceration, the detainee had informed the medical staff that she had previously been hospitalized for kidney problems.
She then assured that she did not suffer from any chronic illness, and would not be under any special treatment either. However, on January 24, she complained of discomfort that required her urgent transfer to the Ghassani Hospital in Fès, where she was placed under medical supervision, until her death on January 26 in the same hospital.
The death of the young woman, who would have been incarcerated for a "drug" case according to the media, continues to fuel controversy. For some of her relatives, Kamilia Larbi would have died under "mysterious" conditions.
