Moroccan Minister Urges Diaspora to Boost Nation's Development in Toronto Address

The Minister Delegate in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad (MRE) was in Toronto to plead for the mobilization of Moroccan skills residing abroad. According to Nezha El Ouafi, far from home, Moroccans living abroad need to strengthen ties and exchanges with their country of origin.

It was during a meeting with members of the Moroccan community established in Toronto that the minister outlined the main lines of the new communication policy of her department. It is mainly focused on strengthening the ties of Moroccans in the world. She invited Moroccans living abroad to support the development process the Kingdom has embarked on with their skills and to get involved in the ongoing structural projects. Nezha El Ouafi took the opportunity of this meeting to announce that Moroccans residing abroad will have the right to a portal on the "Chikaya.ma" complaint platform.

This meeting, organized in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to Ottawa, Souriya Otmani and the Moroccan consul general in Montreal, Fouad Kadmiri, was marked by the interventions of representatives of the Presidency of the Government, the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad, the Central Guarantee Fund (CCG), the Moroccan Banking Group and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development.

The president of the Moroccan Association of Toronto, Faouzi Metoualli, while welcoming the upcoming opening of a new consulate in Toronto, called on the government to multiply partnership agreements between Morocco and Ontario, for the happiness of Moroccans residing in the province. As for the president of the Moroccan Jewish community in Toronto, Simon Keslassy, he felt that the exchanges that took place between the various actors on this occasion "should bear fruit and encourage assistance to take initiatives to contribute to the development" of Morocco.

The working visit made by the Minister Delegate to Canada is part of the priorities of the ministry in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad and the preservation of the rights of Moroccans around the world, the protection of their interests and the mobilization of their skills and experiences in order to contribute to the development of their country.
