Morocco Seeks Diaspora Investment to Boost Post-Pandemic Economy

The strategies to be adopted in order to support the investments of Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE) were at the heart of a working session between the Delegate Minister in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nezha El Ouafi, and a delegation from the "13th region" of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) in charge of Moroccan entrepreneurs in the world (MeM by CGEM). This delegation, led by its president, Karim Amour, reported on the potential of MREs and their determination to support the major reform projects in Morocco.
In the press release issued at the end of this meeting, the ministry indicated that the initiative is part of the national dynamism aimed at "mobilizing economic skills and winning the bet of the confidence of Moroccan investors residing abroad and their integration into the national economic projects post-coronavirus".
The meeting made it possible to emphasize the need to support and accompany Moroccan entrepreneurs established abroad and to motivate them to invest in Morocco. They have the necessary qualifications and potential to help the country get rid of the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic on the national economy. This is why, during the working session, an action plan was presented with the aim of mobilizing and motivating MREs to invest in priority areas capable of propelling the recovery of the economy, reports the MAP.
This meeting is the first of a long list, as the two parties agreed to meet annually in order to "strengthen communication and networking, and encourage Moroccan businessmen in the world to invest in their country of origin and contribute to the development of economic exchanges between the Kingdom and the countries of the world," the same source said.
