Moroccan Man Arrested for Holding Parents Hostage in Garage at Knifepoint

A 30-year-old individual with multiple criminal records was arrested for having sequestered his parents in a garage, threatening them with a knife.
It all started with the alert received by the command and coordination room of the Béni-Mellal police prefecture about an individual. The suspect was sequestering his parents in the garage of their home and threatening them with a knife, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The same source specifies that the nearest police patrol was sent to the scene to apprehend the accused.
During the operation, led by a peace officer from the emergency police of the Béni-Mellal prefecture, the police officer was forced to use his service weapon in the face of the defendant’s resistance. He had to fire two warning shots before neutralizing the latter.
His parents were immediately released and the knives used to threaten them were seized, the same statement said. For the needs of the investigation, the defendant was taken into custody.
