Armed Suspect Holds Hostage, Threatens Police in Larache Standoff

A senior police officer was forced to use his service weapon to preserve the life of an authority auxiliary held hostage by an individual. The man, with multiple criminal records, resisted the police during his arrest, threatening them with a bladed weapon.
According to the press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the suspect, on the pretext that the authority auxiliary had denounced him in previous cases, "took the liberty of holding him hostage in a traditional oven, under the threat of a bladed weapon". During the intervention of the police elements, the suspect "violently resisted using two knives, thus endangering the victim and the police officers".
Faced with the situation, the senior officer was forced to use his service weapon and "fire a bullet that injured the suspect in the right thigh". This made it possible to neutralize him, save the hostage victim and seize the two bladed weapons.
The suspect was evacuated to the provincial hospital for the necessary care, "under health surveillance, pending the opening of a preliminary investigation to determine the ins and outs of this case".
