Moroccan Lawmakers Charged in Million-Dollar Agadir Business Heist

Two MPs are being prosecuted for their alleged involvement in a case of theft from a famous businessman in the city of Agadir. This is the result of an investigation that lasted several months.
The facts date back to late February 2021. Three individuals broke into the premises of one of the businessman’s companies in Agadir. Their target? A safe containing millions of dirhams, mainly in the form of checks and commercial papers, as well as important documents concerning seven other companies of the victim. They succeeded in their coup, but the theft will not go unpunished. One of the stolen checks was found on one of the alleged thieves. Arrested, he quickly denounced his accomplices.
The suspects did not act alone. They revealed the identity of the instigators of the theft. They are two MPs from the city. Following an investigation into the degree of involvement of the two elected officials in this case, the investigating judge decided to prosecute them along with a lawyer, reports Al Akhbar. As for the son of one of them, also suspected of being involved in the burglary of the businessman’s company, he was acquitted.
Stunned, the wives of the people involved recently organized sit-ins to support their husbands. According to them, their spouses are only scapegoats in a case involving important personalities from Agadir. Only the trial will be able to confirm or deny these allegations.
