Moroccan Islamist Group Condemns Israeli Diplomat's Arrival, Calls for Anti-Normalization Efforts

The Al Adl Wal Ihsane movement protested against the arrival in Morocco of the Israeli chargé d’affaires, David Govrin. The Jamaa calls for the concerted efforts of the living forces of Morocco "to confront the danger of Zionist normalization".

In a statement, the Jamaa describes this approach as "catastrophic", and calls on Moroccan leaders to assume their responsibilities. For the movement, the appointment of David Govrin, who is serving as chargé d’affaires at the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, "does not correspond to the declared position". "It is a day of mourning and anger for the Moroccan people who have been imposed this unpopular choice that affects their dignity, their strength and their future," the NGO said.

For the leaders of the association, "the normalization of relations means the infiltration of the occupying state into Moroccan society at all levels". It explains that "the issue is not limited to the conduct of business in a liaison office, but is greater than that and more dangerous," it notes. Al Adl denounces a maneuver aimed at "deceiving the people and allowing the Zionists to reach the arteries of the life of the country". A "stain of shame that afflicts [Morocco], the country of martyrs, mujahideen and conquerors of Bait al-Maqdis".

The Moroccan Instance for the Support of the Causes of the Ummah also insists on "the need to unite the efforts of the living forces of this country to confront the danger of Zionist normalization and its repercussions on the people and the State".
