Moroccan Fuel Prices Surge Again: Diesel and Gasoline Hit New Highs

The bad news is repeating itself for Moroccan motorists. Fuel prices at service stations have continued to rise in recent weeks.

As of this Friday, September 1st, motorists will have to pay more for fuel. Diesel will see its price increase by about 30 cents per liter to reach more than 13.50 dirhams, the fifth increase in 30 days, according to data collected from professionals. As for the liter of gasoline, it will see an increase of about 50 cents to largely exceed 15 dirhams. This is the third increase over the same period.

Until now, the price per liter of diesel in Casablanca is around 13.31 dirhams at Afriquia, 13.28 dirhams at Winxo stations, 13.34 dirhams at Shell and TotalEnergies points. The liter of unleaded gasoline is sold at 14.97 dirhams at Afriquia, at Shell and TotalEnergies, and 14.94 dirhams at Winxo stations. The cost of transportation also influences the price of fuel in other cities of the kingdom, leading to price differences depending on the distance.

The soaring fuel prices have prompted the government to relaunch the support intended for passenger and freight transport professionals. They will have to register via the Mouakaba platform from September 8 to benefit from this aid, reports Le360. In total, more than 5 billion dirhams have been released between the middle of the previous year and the middle of the current year by the government to relieve the hardships of transport professionals. Some 180,000 vehicles are the beneficiaries.
