Moroccan-French Driver Arrested at Tanger Med Port with 260 kg of Hashish

Police from the security zone of the Tanger Med port arrested on Friday a Moroccan from France who was transporting 260 kilograms of hashish hidden in a truck with French registration.
The drugs were discovered as part of a border control operation and after a thorough inspection carried out with sniffer dogs, reports the local media Tanja24 cited by El Faro de Ceuta. The cargo was hidden inside a truck registered in France that was about to be loaded onto a ferry bound for a European port.
The truck driver, a 30-year-old Moroccan, was arrested and taken into custody. The judicial investigation conducted by the criminal investigation division of the Tanger Med port under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office will identify and arrest all the people involved in this trafficking.
The General Directorate of National Security has been waging a fierce battle against international drug trafficking for a few months. In early July, a 36-year-old man was arrested at the same port as he was trying to smuggle 209 kilograms of hashish hidden in a truck loaded with fruits and vegetables.
