Moroccan Authorities Seize 209 kg of Cannabis at Tanger-Med Port

An international drug trafficking operation was thwarted at the port of Tanger-Med, following a joint operation between the district police and Customs services.
In total, some 209 kilograms of cannabis resin were seized on board an international freight transport truck. According to a security source quoted by the MAP, the operation was made possible with the help of sniffer dogs, which discovered the drugs carefully hidden in a cargo of agricultural products.
The unloading of the cargo allowed the seizure of the 209 kg of cannabis resin, which were packaged in small bales specially prepared for international trafficking. The police also arrested the truck driver, a 36-year-old Moroccan national, added the same source.
The driver was taken into custody as part of the investigation conducted by the judicial police brigade of the Tanger Med port, supervised by the competent prosecutor’s office.
