Moroccan Expats: Rules for Bringing Rental Cars into Morocco for Summer Vacations

Very many Moroccans of the World planning to travel to Morocco for their summer vacation are considering doing so with a rental car. Do they have the right to do so? What does the Moroccan customs think about it?
After long refusing the admission of rental cars, the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration has allowed it again in recent years, but the person in this situation must nevertheless respect a few rules, under penalty of sanctions.
At the Moroccan border, at Customs, the MRE is asked to present certain documents. If he does not have them, he will be prohibited from entering Morocco:
• Vehicle documents;
• Residence permit;
• Rental contract specifying, possibly, the approval of the rental company for the vehicle in question to be brought to Morocco, with details of the rental and return dates.
The rental vehicle must also comply with the same rules as any other vehicle admitted under the "temporary admission" regime. In addition, it must leave the territory after 6 months, under penalty of fines that can be very heavy: (from 1,000 to 10,000 dirhams). You have been warned!
