Moroccan Expat Accused of Plotting Lawyer’s Murder in Land Dispute

A Moroccan living abroad, suspected of having prepared an attempted assassination of a lawyer in Khouribga, tried to evade justice by presenting a medical certificate. Meanwhile, his accomplices are in pre-trial detention.
In dispute with the victim’s brother over a land property, the man had been the subject of a complaint filed by the lawyer, for acts of violence. She had joined the civil party in the case because of her kinship with the victim.
The Moroccan expatriate would have, according to the newspaper Assabah, then decided to force the lawyer to withdraw her complaint, by inciting two individuals to harass her, or even threaten her with death. The latter finally gave up, their acts having been recorded by the exterior cameras of the lawyer’s home.
Pending the end of the investigation, one of the two individuals was placed in custody while the second has been in pre-trial detention in the Khouribga prison for some time.
