Moroccan Woman Jailed for Attempted Immolation of Husband Over Alleged Affairs

A woman was placed in pre-trial detention for attempting, in the middle of last week, to burn her husband alive. The victim, with first-degree burns, is still hospitalized.
Before the court, the accused tried to defend her case, blaming her spouse for his numerous infidelities. According to her, he would have humiliated her by frequenting young women on the internet.
Questioned about the attempted homicide by immolation, the wife and mother of 4 children confessed to having acted in a fit of anger, adding that her husband also wanted to bewitch her.
The attempted reconciliation decided by the investigating judge would not have been successful, according to the daily Assabah, which specifies that the husband refused to withdraw his complaint. The accused was therefore kept in pre-trial detention, pending her appearance scheduled for mid-June.
