Moroccan Drug Lord Implicates Gendarmes in Massive European Trafficking Operation

Prosecuted for an international drug trafficking case involving several gendarmes, including high-ranking officers, all of whom were arrested, a drug baron revealed that with their complicity, he had smuggled several hundred tons of drugs into Europe.

Explosive revelation or settling of scores? The judges in charge of managing the case will know how to place each party in this affair of large-scale drug trafficking. The defendant, a repeat offender, already convicted in another trafficking case, did not hesitate before making these explosive revelations on Monday, September 16, 2019.

This feat of international drug trafficking is currently being examined by the justice system in Rabat. Several armed bodies are involved. Nearly 30 gendarmes, including 5 colonels, all under arrest, are implicated in this case, reports the daily Al Akhbar.

According to the same media, these revelations were made in the presence of the prosecuted gendarmes, their families and their lawyers. The same source reports that the baron confirmed that he had personally attended several secret meetings between the traffickers and the said gendarmes.

These meetings resulted in cash agreements, under which drug shipments would be "freely transported to Europe". From the baron’s statements, it appears that he personally invested in the transportation of the goods.

The dealer further revealed the "cover" provided to him by the prosecuted gendarmes. Thanks to them, he had transported more than 423 tons to Europe from Agadir, Dakhla or the northern ports, specifying that each trip earned him 80,000 dirhams, paid by an "emissary" tasked with accompanying him to his destination.

The defendant was so well organized that he used small notes recorded on sheets that he consulted from time to time to respond precisely to the judges on the dates and figures.

Faced with these revelations, through "precise data", the lawyers of the other defendants described all these accusations as "lies", "settling of scores" and "revenge" against gendarmes who had rather loyally stood up against his illegal trafficking.
