Moroccan Police Seize 6.4 Tons of Cannabis, Arrest 4 in Major Drug Bust

Based on information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the Judicial Police Brigade of Guelmim carried out, on Monday evening, the seizure of 6.4 tons of cannabis resin and the arrest of four individuals aged 27 to 61 years old, for their alleged links with a criminal network operating in international drug trafficking.
According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), a search operation of a goods transport truck at the entrance of the city of Guelmim, led to the seizure of an initial quantity of 3.1 tons of cannabis resin and the arrest of the driver of the heavy vehicle.
The three other individuals who would be involved in this case were apprehended on board two 4x4 vehicles, not far from the same place.
According to the DGSN, subsequent operations of the same magnitude, carried out by the Security services, in a farm near the Taghjijt region, 80 km towards Tata, made it possible to seize an additional quantity of 3.3 tons of the same drug.
The same services are continuing the investigations to identify other persons allegedly involved in this criminal act and to determine the ramifications of this network at the national level.
