Moroccan Military and Police Implicated in Major Cocaine Trafficking Scandal

Several gendarmes and officers of the Moroccan army would be involved in the international cocaine trafficking. Many other elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, involved in drug trafficking, would be sought by the police.
A drug case is splashing the great mute. According to the newspaper Assabah, the facts date back to August 15, 2019. Indeed, on that date, more than 3 tons of cocaine, hidden in several packages, had been found on the beach of Sidi Rahal in the province of Berrechid (123 km south of Rabat). The local authorities and the gendarmes had arrived on the spot and an investigation had been opened under the control of the public prosecutor’s office.
However, curiously, no one knows, to date, "the origin and fate of this large quantity of cocaine" until now, notes the media, which recalls that this important seizure occurred a week after the discovery of 37 packets of cocaine on a beach located between the cities of Salé and Mehdia, near the capital, Rabat.
From then on, the same source concludes that the officers of the Moroccan army are accused of having stolen a large quantity of this prohibited product, seized in Rabat.
Referring to the annual report of the UN agency based in Vienna, the newspaper indicates that most of the quantities of cannabis resin produced in Morocco (one of the main producers of cannabis resin in Africa) are shipped through Spain where they are introduced by smuggling on other regional markets.
