Moroccan Workers Protest Unpaid Millions at Saudi Prince's Palace in Tangier

In Tangier, Moroccan workers and representatives of Moroccan companies organized a sit-in in front of the palace of one of the Saudi princes, to demand justice and regularization of their situation.

In unison, Moroccan workers and representatives of Moroccan companies denounce the delay in the payment of their debts by the Saudi company supervising the work inside the palace. They are demanding sums of money exceeding 12 million dirhams, for various works carried out inside the palace. These include electrical and sanitary repairs, zellige and marble work, gardening and landscaping, as well as maintenance, refrigeration, air conditioning and painting services. They demand the opening of a serious and responsible dialogue with the parties concerned, whether the Saudi company or the palace administration, in order to find an urgent solution to put an end to their suffering and protect their legitimate rights.

They reaffirm their willingness to continue the protest movements if their demands are not met. The protesters explain that they organized the Monday sit-in after a series of unsuccessful correspondence and contacts with the responsible company. They accuse the company of procrastinating in the execution of its financial commitments. According to them, the sit-in is a first step of pressure and awareness of their suffering. They do not rule out resorting to other forms of protest if their demands continue to be ignored.
