Moroccan Driver Caught with 900 Kg Overload on French Highway

The trips of Moroccans living abroad start with their share of excess baggage. This is what happened again this week in the Ain department, where a Moroccan was arrested by the gendarmerie with 900 kilos of overload!
According to the newspaper Le Dauphiné, the arrest of this Moroccan took place on Wednesday, June 19, on the A 43 motorway, at the level of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier. The gendarmes had decided that day to carry out a large-scale traffic control operation. Among the people sanctioned was a Moroccan in his forties, at the wheel of a Hyundai 4x4, with a trailer. "The quadragenarian and his traveling companion had transformed their car and the trailer into a ’real small appliance store’," the gendarmes confided. In addition to a refrigerator, there was a microwave oven, a dishwasher and everything needed to furnish an apartment. There were also "spare tires," the newspaper writes.
None of these products will make it to Morocco as he had to part with them before being able to resume his journey. "After a stop at a friend’s in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, then at the landfill, he was able to resume his journey, with a light heart and wallet," the publication specifies.
Fewer bags but also a hefty fine of 180 euros (two times 90 euros). Let’s hope this will serve as a lesson to him and to others who will be very numerous to take to the road in the coming days.
