Moroccan Customs Seize 460 kg of Cannabis in Expatriate’s Car at Tangier Port

An attempt to traffic cannabis resin was thwarted by the Moroccan customs at the Port of Tangier on Tuesday, August 27. A couple of Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) tried to smuggle a quantity of 460 kilograms, carefully hidden in the bodywork of their 4x4 car, in the form of slabs.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the customs services at the Port of Tangier were assisted by dogs during the control operation.
The statement adds that the suspects, a 42-year-old Moroccan national and his 38-year-old companion, were on board a car registered abroad, and intended to smuggle the goods into Spain.
An investigation has been opened by the judicial police services, under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, while the two suspects have been taken into custody, pending their appearance before the courts.
