Moroccan Customs Foil Major Smartphone and Electronics Smuggling Attempts at Tanger-Med Port

Thwarting of three attempts to fraudulently introduce mobile phones and electronic devices into the national territory. The feat was accomplished by the customs elements operating at the Port of Tanger-Med.
In the first operation, customs seized 121 smartphones and 20 used computers carefully hidden in milk cartons on board an international bus from the Port of Algeciras, according to the MAP.
The second operation allowed the customs officers to seize 30 high-end smartphones that a Moroccan residing abroad was trying to bring into Morocco, on board his vehicle registered in France.
A third operation to traffic 30 computers and 500 hard drives hidden in a car registered abroad was prevented by customs, who in 48 hours prevented the Port of Tanger Med from being used as a transit point for a traffic of electronic devices and mobile phones.
