Customs Seize 300 Smuggled Smartphones at Moroccan Port of Tanger-Med

Several hundred smartphones were discovered on Saturday by customs services in a vehicle belonging to a Moroccan living abroad.
Customs sources cited by the MAP indicate that "the customs elements thwarted an attempt to traffic 300 used smartphones" that were carefully hidden in the front and rear seats of a car registered in Spain.
The man was trying to illegally bring them into Morocco, the same source specifies, noting that he did not have "prior authorization from the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration." All the devices were of course seized to "be subjected to the usual procedures."
Seizures of smartphones and electronic devices are quite common at the Tanger-Med port. Last November, customs officers found several dozen laptops in the car belonging to a Moroccan living abroad.
