Massive Drug Bust: 2.2 Tons of Cannabis Seized at Moroccan Port Bound for Spain

On Monday evening, an operation jointly carried out by elements of the National Security and Customs, at the port of Tanger-Med, led to the arrest of the driver of an international road transport (TIR) truck and the seizure of 2.2 tons of cannabis resin, intended for international trafficking.
The seizure of this significant amount of drugs comes just a few days after that of Guergarate. According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), this operation took place as part of the border control formalities and searches of the seized truck that was about to go to Spain.
The suspect, who is 34 years old, was placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation carried out by the Prefectural Service of the Judicial Police in order to know all the ramifications of this criminal network which seems to extend to the international level.
