Massive Drug Bust: 8.8 Tons of Cannabis Seized at Tangier Port

The National Security Services have once again succeeded in thwarting an attempt to traffic 8.830 tons of cannabis resin in an international transport truck with foreign license plates. The search operations carried out on Monday afternoon, which led to this result, were possible thanks to the coordination of efforts between the National Security Services and the customs elements at the Port of Tangier-Med.
In addition to the 8.830 tons of cannabis resin seized, the driver of the international transport truck in which the products were discovered was arrested. According to Maroc Diplomatique, the search operations, carried out using a scanner, led to the discovery of the drugs in the trailer of the vehicle.
This new seizure operation is part of the intense security efforts carried out in the framework of the fight against international drug and psychotropic trafficking. Morocco is investing in this fight so that its ports and borders cease to contribute to the Kingdom becoming a hub for this type of trafficking.
The defendant, of Spanish origin, was taken into custody for the investigation to determine all the ramifications of this case.
