Massive Drug Bust: Morocco Seizes 6 Tons of Cannabis at Sahara Border Crossing

The elements of the National Security and Customs carried out on Monday morning, an operation at the Guergarate post, in the south of Morocco, which resulted in the seizure of nearly six tons of cannabis resin. The goods were on board an international transport truck heading to an African country.
According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the search of a truck led to the discovery of 5 tons and 996 kilograms of chira, carefully hidden in a cargo of vegetables, intended for export to an African country.
The police also arrested three people, the driver and two escorts. Their nationality was not specified by the DGSN.
A judicial investigation has been opened to try to shed light on this case, the ramifications of which must go beyond the person of the arrested driver.
