Moroccan City of Safi Rocked by Two Fatal Stabbings in 24 Hours

A few hours after the death on Monday of a high school student killed by two twins, the city of Safi was again shaken by another homicide. A 24-year-old man died following a quarrel that led to a violent knife fight.
The two victims are 18 and 24 years old. The first tragedy took place at the Al Hidaya Al Islamiya high school and was caused by two 17-year-old twin brothers. They inflicted several knife wounds to the back and then the chest of another student from the same school, who succumbed to his injuries before the emergency services arrived on the scene. According to the daily Al Massae, the crime took place in front of the school gate in the afternoon of Monday, May 17. The police did not take long to apprehend the two twins, who were brought before the prosecutor’s office as alleged perpetrators of stab wounds causing death.
While the inhabitants of the city were still in shock, the Azib Eddarii district, in the heart of Safi, was the scene of another tragedy that caused the death of a 24-year-old man. According to the newspaper, a brawl broke out between two former friends, aged 30 and 31, who came to blows after reviving an old dispute that opposed them. The use of knives in this violent fight ultimately proved fatal for a 3rd young man, who had intervened in support of one of the two protagonists. The two individuals were taken to the hospital under close surveillance and the third, who received a fatal knife wound, was taken to the morgue for an autopsy.
