Fatal Stabbing Outside Marrakech Mosque: Suspect Arrested in Prayer-Time Attack

A man in his fifties was killed in Marrakech on Thursday, June 3, by a knife attack after the Asr prayer at the Benkaddour mosque, Boulevard Houmane El Fatwaki in the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali district. The suspect was arrested.
This will be his last Asr prayer. In Marrakech, a man in his fifties was killed by a knife attack on Thursday after leaving the mosque. "The suspect surprised the victim as he was alone after the Asr prayer at the Benkaddour mosque in the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali district, inflicting blows and injuries that resulted in death using a knife," reports Al Massae, citing a statement from the DGSN.
Alerted, the elements of the police in the ochre city went to the scene where they arrested the suspect (a 47-year-old man) as he was trying to flee in the vicinity of Oued Issil near the crime scene. The knife used to commit the act was seized.
The motive for this murder was a rental dispute between the two men. The alleged murderer had rented a commercial premises belonging to the victim, but owed him rent arrears. The victim had then initiated legal action to obtain the termination of the lease and the eviction of the tenant. The latter had not digested this eviction and had then decided to take revenge.
After his arrest, the alleged murderer was placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation conducted by the prefectural service of the judicial police of Marrakech under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
