Sub-Saharan Suspect Arrested in Casablanca Money Transfer Agency Robbery Attempt

An attempted theft targeting a money transfer agency in Al-Fida Mers-Sultan in the Casablanca district resulted on Wednesday in the arrest of a foreign national. A second suspect who managed to flee is being sought by the police.
Two nationals of a sub-Saharan country broke into a money transfer agency, attempting to seize the money under the threat of a bladed weapon, according to the initial elements of the investigation reported in a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The immediate intervention of a police officer who was in charge of organizing road traffic near the crime scene made it possible to apprehend one of the two suspects and seize the bladed weapon used in this assault, the DGSN specifies, stating that an employee of the agency was slightly injured.
The arrested 30-year-old suspect was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in an attempted robbery with violence inside a money transfer agency. An investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, and searches are actively continuing to identify and apprehend the second suspect.
