Moroccan Beaches Packed as COVID-19 Precautions Ignored Amid Heatwave

In Morocco, it’s a rush to the beaches in this period of heat wave. But this moment of entertainment could turn into a nightmare as many vacationers have trampled on the preventive measures issued to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the kingdom.
Vacationers "do not respect any" of the preventive instructions on the beaches, thus endangering their own lives as well as those of others, reports Hespress. "We are trying to evacuate the stress left by the confinement period. So we take advantage of the moment to relax," says a vacationer, who trivializes the covid-19 pandemic. "I don’t think a crowd of people on the beach can promote virus transmission, especially since the sea water eliminates microbes," he says.
"It’s a good idea to go to the sea to relax, but on condition of respecting social distancing of at least one and a half meters between one person and another," insists Jamal Eddine El Bouzidi, president of the Moroccan League against Tuberculosis, a specialist in respiratory diseases.
Based on the observations made on the beaches, he proposes an organization around the relaxation of vacationers and calls for strict compliance with preventive measures.
