Morocco’s Northern Beaches Reopen with Strict COVID-19 Precautions

The beaches of the Tétouan region are reopening to the public from this Thursday, June 25, in strict compliance with the preventive measures against the coronavirus.
The provincial and local authorities of Tétouan and its region are putting in place a whole health system, particularly on the coasts of Martil, M’diq, Findeq and Cabo Negro before the reopening of the beaches to the public, Thursday. Together, they ensure the application of the guide established by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, in order to avoid any risk of contamination of bathers by the coronavirus, reports Al Akhbar.
Among these measures, the respect of physical distancing on the beaches, the monitoring of the quality of sea water, the carrying out of maintenance work on sanitary facilities and the organization of awareness-raising activities on respect for the environment. Perimeters of social distancing have also been traced.
Access to the beaches is limited with a minimum distance of 2 km between them. Between one parasol and another, there must be a distance of 3 meters. Any gathering of more than four people is strictly prohibited. Bathers will be required to wear masks out of the water. Only individual sports activities are allowed.
The same source specifies that public swimming pools are closed, starting with the large Al Zarka pool, to avoid any density and promiscuity. All informal commercial activities such as the rental of parasols are strictly prohibited.
