Moroccan El Bakkali Advances to 3000m Steeplechase Final at Doha World Championships

At the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Moroccan Soufiane El Bakkali qualified, on Tuesday, for the final of the 3000m Steeplechase event, finishing second (second series). He is one of the 17 athletes defending the colors of Morocco for the World Athletics Championships.
With a time of 8 min 17 sec 96/100, the 23-year-old Moroccan athlete secured his place in the final by taking second place on the podium.
The first place in the race was won by the Ethiopian Lamecha Girma (8 min 16 sec 64/100) while the Kenyan Abraham Kibiwot finished third (8 min 18 sec 46/100).
For his part, Mohamed Tindoft was unable to finish the race, abandoning two laps before the finish line of this race won by the Kenyan Conseslus Kipruto who recorded a time of 8 min 19 sec 20/100.
He beat his compatriot Benjamin Kigen (8 min 19 sec 44/100) and the American Hilary Bor (8 min 20 sec 67/100).
