Moroccan Authorities Arrest Fraudster Impersonating Law Enforcement Officer
The auxiliary forces of the province of Chtouka-Ait Baha succeeded in apprehending an individual who usurped the functions of a moukhazni and defrauded citizens in the weekly markets.
The arrest of the fake moukhazni follows the complaint of a merchant whom he had arrested in a sheep market for not wearing a mask. He had searched him, stripped him of 2,000 DH before leaving the premises. The merchant went to the headquarters of the pachalik where he complained to the chief of the auxiliary forces about the behavior of one of their own. Immediately, the official summoned the two moukhaznis who were on duty in this market. They were presented to the complainant, who specified that it was an individual wearing a jacket over his uniform.
The auxiliary forces began to investigate. Some elements went to the taxi station where they asked the broker to alert them when he saw a moukhazni in the area. The law enforcement was contacted some time later by the broker, who informed them of the presence of the fake moukhazni. He had just taken a taxi with a woman.
His arrest took place on the outskirts of a forest near Ait Amira. The auxiliary forces took him to the pachalik. They searched him and found 20,000 dirhams and an ID card on him. An ID card that the alleged fraudster said he had found a few years ago in the province of Khemisset and forged. Handed over to the gendarmes, the accused was brought before the public prosecutor at the court of first instance of Inezgane. He was placed in pre-trial detention pending his trial.
